NW Latino Writers Group  Seattle Washington

About Los Norteños

The vision of Los Nortenos is to showcase the work of Latino writers in the Northwest  through public readings, workshops, and mentoring.

The goals of Los Norteños  are to produce entertaining, multicultural events, bilingual publications, including digital and web-based communications; provide a forum for writers to learn from one another, share resources. LN will always work to become  a source of Latino pride. LN invites community involvement, volunteers and interaction, event planning.

Los Norteños has produced and performed annual readings at Elliott Bay Book Company, Richard Hugo House and at regional arts events, often in celebration of Latino holidays. There have also been specially created events such as Latinos on Love and a Peace Show to benefit Real Change, a program to support homeless people.

The  continuing presence of Los Norteños on the literary scene in the Pacific Northwest has depended mostly on the volunteer efforts of members, family and friends.

In February 2008, members elected a new chairperson, Catalina Cantu  for a term of two years. Former coordinator, Raul Sanchez will continue as active member and consultant.
